Africa Lives On The BBC
A diverse continent waiting to be discovered [June 2005]
During 2005, the BBC offered a variety of programmes and initiatives across all its services - television, radio and online - broadcasting both within the UK and worldwide to highlight and explore African life and culture.

"By providing a broader representation of life across Africa, the BBC will offer a fresh look at the continent throughout a year dominated by the G8 conference, the Commission For Africa and the 20th anniversary of Live Aid."

Lorraine Heggessy, former controller, BBC One: "People will hear the continent being discussed and dissected. Their overwhelming impression is of Africa 'the problem,' but that is only part of the story. There is a vibrant, diverse continent waiting to be discovered."

Voice-over: Hugh Quarshie.
